VP of Construction & Development
Rob Herman, Jr.
The Herman family’s ventures as real estate investors and developers began in the 1960’s in eastern Jackson County, Missouri and surrounding areas. Early projects undertaken by the family included the development of numerous hotels and gas stations. With strategic land holdings of several large acreage tracts in Independence, Missouri, located at the bisection of the new interstate highway system, the family capitalized on numerous real estate development opportunities. One notable development was the construction of the Crackerneck Country Club in Independence, Missouri. The golf club was in continual operation until 2000.
Rob became active in the development business in the year 2000 when he joined his father in the family business. Upon Rob’s joining the business, he helped to direct the redevelopment of the Country Club property into the first successful, fully mixed-use development in the high growth suburbs of Eastern Jackson County, Missouri. The Herman family, in conjunction with Erhart Development Company of St. Louis, transformed the golf course ground into the Eastland Center mixed used development. Today, the 212 acres have been successfully developed and are occupied by dozens and dozens of users including Carmax, Costco, Lowe’s and the Independence Events Center.
In addition to working through the completion of Eastland Center, Rob has since successfully undertaken multiple additional commercial and residential development projects, including: Crackerneck Center in Independence, Missouri anchored by a Main Event family entertainment center; Southtowne Plaza in Belton, Missouri that includes a Menard’s Home Improvement Center, Aspen Dental and a Class-A multi-family component; Emporia Pavilions in Emporia, Kansas anchored by Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, Ross and others; and the North Ridge Senior (55+) Living community in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Rob is a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy where he earned an Associate of Arts in 1996 and the University of Central Missouri, Harmon School of Business where he earned his B.S.B.A. in 2000.
